Steve remembers being told about a new radio station, broadcasting from a ship in the North Sea and that his parents were convinced that it was cover for a Russian spies. That was in 1964. By the late 60s Steve was doing DJ work in Kent and SE London. This included making programmes for a land based pirate that was part of the Radio Helen Network. In the early 1970s Steve joined the hospital radio team at WHBS in Woolwich where, in later years Cliff Osborne served time.
Steve then concentrated on a career elsewhere but became involved in the Caroline family during the late 1980s, had a regular slot on Euronet, a fledgling satellite radio station and was part of the Offshore Radio 1584 project in 1992. He presented a couple of programmes during the 1994 Bradwell RSL but the pressures of life and career meant that once again his radio involvements had to take a back seat.
Having now retired from the nine to five routine, Steve had no hesitation in returning to the fold to help with restoration work on the Ross and be given the opportunity to present a show on the world's most famous radio station...........more
