When quite young given tickets to a light classical and pop concert series , secretly scoffed at the idea while outwardly present and considered it rude not to attend.
One of the concerts was Lee Evans, His Orchestra and Voices. At first sounding reminiscent of elevator music , the type of 'canned' music played in department stores during the post ww2 era. instantly striking in that such lavish production , a tour was planned around something many probably take for granted.
One choreograph featured two male/female couples wearing matching jumpsuits , which they changed quite often to match the mood of the tunes , presumably, who sang and danced. Not what alot of people would call dance; they held each other lightly and scarcely moving presented a stylized , idealized , somewhat anonymous spectacle to the audience. The effect was fascinating, uninteresting and slightly repulsive all at once. This happened on bossa nova numbers. There were alot of those. Cinnamon and Clove. Those particular dancing techniques ; probably influenced by big name brazilian productions , have also been used by techno pop acts to certain effect, perhaps merging with glamour modeling.
Most of the music of that era , technique has a very thick lugubrious sound to it. sometimes the pre-amps , tape medium more audible than the violins; quite different from listening to violins with the 'stuffing' taken away.
